# First Officer 0.1.0-dev.33 for Mac

Mac-only early release for Apple silicon, macOS 13 or later. Windows stays on dev.19; the newer Windows version is not yet qualified.

Create a project inside First Officer, connect Codex, Claude or Gemini, and save text drafts, answers and revisions in your workspace. The latest readable draft appears in the preview, and a saved draft directs you to review it. Gemini setup includes visible progress, clipboard paste and right-click paste.

## Install or update

Open the ZIP, then open Install First Officer. Quit an existing First Officer app and choose Update First Officer. The guided installer retains the previous app and keeps your workspace and connections. Click Open First Officer when finished. Keep your workspace folder.

## Connect and work

Create a project with a name and short description. Choose your AI, complete its connection steps, then click Continue. Answer any question with Answer & continue. Review the saved draft before using it; request a revision with Continue with feedback.

Codex uses an official Codex executable already installed on your computer and your ChatGPT plan allowance. Claude connects through the included official Claude Code component and your own account. Gemini requires a Google AI Studio API key. Provider account requirements, quotas, billing and data policies apply; an AI allowance is not included. A consumer subscription does not necessarily include API usage.

On each drafting request the selected project record, linked Markdown/text content and instructions go to the selected provider. Saved answers are part of that context. Switching AI sends the context to the newly selected provider, not the other provider's private chat history. Sign-ins are stored separately from your workspace. Only connect material you intend to share with that provider.

## Verification and limits

The Mac app and guided installer are signed and Apple-notarized. Installed update, saved-work retention, three provider connections, a live Codex question/answer/draft/revision cycle and one Claude drafting check passed. An isolated development-profile onboarding repeat also passed. A separate-account fresh production install and independent first-time-user acceptance have not been demonstrated. Live Gemini generation was not repeated on dev.33. Native Windows dev.33 testing remains deferred.

This release produces text/Markdown drafts for human review. It does not publish, send messages or operate other apps. Generated work may be wrong; verify it before use. Retain backups. Signing and notarization do not guarantee safety.
