The silence keeps the band together.

Exporting separate audio parts? Keep their shared starting point. Hear what changes when you trim the quiet beginnings.

Original timing. All three files are 24 seconds long. Drums sound from 0 to 24 seconds. Bass is silent for 8 seconds, then sounds until 24 seconds. Melody is silent for 16 seconds, then sounds until 24 seconds.

Listen to the combined 24-second example. Start at a comfortable volume.

They enter at 0, 8 and 16 seconds.

Try it in your own session

Import the parts from one folder at the same starting point. Then hear what the missing silence changes.

A grouped stem combines tracks, such as a whole drum kit. These practice files are separate instrument parts. Both need the same export start.

Download practice pack
  1. Start a blank project.

Set 120 BPM and 4/4. Disable automatic silence trimming, time-stretching or tempo matching before importing.

  2. Import every part at zero.

Choose one folder and put its drums, bass and melody on separate tracks, all at the project start. Repeat with each folder in a fresh project.

  3. Check the entrances.

Original timing enters at 0, 8 and 16 seconds. Both trimmed versions enter together at zero. Adding silence at the end does not restore those entrances.

For your next delivery: export every part from the same chosen start, keep its leading silence, then re-import the files at that start to check them.

An instrumental practice example at 120 BPM. No upload or account needed.
